Duck confit with cinnamon potatoes

Shoko is a restaurant in Barcelona that is in Port Olympic on the beach. It turns into a night club at 12:30 every night. Since all my friends from Penn State are finally on spring break, they traveled to Barcelona to visit us! We decided to do a big dinner for all of us on their first night and went to Shoko.

We thought getting a reservation for 14 would be tough but it turned out being the opposite. One of my friends booked the reservation online and almost immediately it was confirmed.

We showed up at 9:30 and I ordered a bottle of water and a glass of wine. The server who was assigned to us spoke english so we could ask her questions about the menu. Although the menu was not cheap, it was a lot less expensive than I was expecting it to be.

Servers came around for us with bread. The first piece of bread I had was plain, the second had raisins and nuts in it, and the third had olives in it! Each bread was different and a surprise when I bit into it, which I really enjoyed.

For my meal I ordered the duck confit with cinnamon potatoes. I wasn’t really sure how duck confit is prepared so I was a little nervous but decided to take a risk since I have always loved duck. The duck was AMAZING. It almost melted in my mouth when I took a bite of it and it was a very generous portion. I ate all of it very quickly. The potatoes on the other hand were good, but not what I was expecting. They almost tasted like pumpkin pie, but they had a liquid texture and was the type of food I enjoyed a bite of but nothing more. We ended up skipping out on the pricey desserts.

Overall, I really enjoyed shoko. The menu had a wide variety of asian dishes and the atmosphere was very chic. The service was decent and I thought it was not unreasonably priced, especially considering its location. I would definitely recommend for anyone to try Shoko, it didn’t disappoint me!
