The boqueria on Las Ramblas is one of the most well known places to go in Barcelona. You find the most fresh foods there is there from meat to seafood to candy to fruits and vegetables. I have never been to the market and come out unsatisfied.

All of this is the reason why I decided to try Pinotxo’s, which is a little place to eat right inside of the boqueria. Pinotxo’s is a very famous place and is well known for its food. “Pinotxo” himself still works there.

I went to Pinotxo with my mom at 11:00 AM on a weekday, since it is always so crowded we figured being early would help us to get seats. Sure enough it only took us about 10 minutes to find two seats right at the bar. We were lost and confused but Pinoxto came over to help us. He immediately took our drink orders and brought us over a pastry type thing. It was cinnamon and hard on the outside with a soft dough center, I think it may have been egg inside. Regardless of what it was, it was one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted.

Razor clams

After that we decided to trust Pinotxo with what we should get. We decided to go for seafood since we are in Barcelona. The first dish he brought us was razor clams. What I have noticed here in Barcelona is that a lot of local places put olive oil on everything. This was no exception. The clams were covered in olive oil and were incredible. I loved every single bite.

After the outstanding clams, Pinotxo brought us shrimp. The shell of the shrimp were covered in salt, and of course, olive oil. Although the dish did not come with a lot of shrimp, they were definitely worth it. Shrimp is one of my favorite foods and I love trying them cooked in different ways.

The last dish we received was something new and unusual for me. The dish was the same type of beans used for baked beans and inside was baby squid. The whole dish was covered in balsamic, which is my new obsession! I was really skeptical of this dish when it was brought out, but it turns out I loved this one too! Everything was cooked so perfectly and the ingredients used all blended so well. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal.

I would 100 percent recommend Pinotxo’s for anyone traveling or living in Barcelona. Pinotxo was EXTREMELY helpful. He genuinely cared about his customers and was really helpful. The food was also incredible. Every single thing I had I fell in love with. We ended up spending about 50 euro for the three dishes, the pastry, and 3 drinks. I think it was very reasonably priced and I will definitely be back there soon.
